Knickerbocker Etched was introduced by Gorham in the year 1870. The
design is Japanese-style multi-motif flora that is acid etched, then the fine
detail in the leaves and flowers are hand engraved. The design wraps from the
front to the back of the pieces. This pattern is reminiscent of Tiffany's acid
etched Lap-Over Edge. There are very few multi-motif patterns that are acid
etched (only the two patterns, to the best of our knowledge). Included is a
copy of Bill Hood's wonderful 7-page article on Knickerbocker Etched from
"Silver Studies 2012" (London, England).
